Le choix des pianistes

Créé par la Cinémathèque québécoise, « Le choix des pianistes » a vu le jour en 1993. On y présentait un style encore peu connu, soit l’improvisation au piano durant des films muets par des pianistes connus mondialement.

« Le choix des pianistes » verra le jour pour une deuxième édition en avril 2014 grâce à l’initiative de Gabriel Thibaudeau, compositeur, chef d’orchestre et pianiste attitré de la Cinémathèque québécoise.  La formule revue et améliorée proposera cinq jours de visionnement, 4 pianistes d’envergure et 9 programmes datant d’avant 1930. Les spectateurs auront droit à une composition en direct.

Le piano est un instrument de choix lors de l’accompagnement d’une projection cinématographique. Venez en sentir toute la fougue lors de la semaine du 15 avril 2014.

Le choix des pianistes

“Le choix des pianistes” was created by Cinémathèque Québecoise in 1993.   A little known music style was introduced, namely, the improvisation on piano of music performed during silent movies by pianists renowned worldwide. 

A second edition of “Le choix des pianistes” will be produced in April 2014 through the initiative of Gabriel Thibaudeau, music composer, conductor and lead pianist for Cinémathèque Québecoise.  The reviewed and improved edition will feature 4 renowned pianists and 9 programmes dating from before the 1930s over a period of five viewing days.  Spectators will be treated to a live composition. 

Piano is the choice instrument during the showing of this cinematographic work.  Come and feel the unimaginable brio of this presentation during the week of April 15, 2014.
